HOW TO APPROVE AND KNOW GOD'S PERFECT WILL

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

(Romans 12:1-2)

Many people struggle to know God’s perfect will because of the following two reasons:

  • they fail to sacrifice their bodies to God and,
  • they conform to the patterns of this world.

In simple words, this is what we can learn from the above passage:

Though we can worship God with our lips, the Bible mentions that ‘giving our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God’ is true worship.

Giving our bodies as a sacrifice means that we have to submit our physical bodies at his altar. In other words, our bodies must exist and operate for God’s pleasure and to do God’s will. That’s true worship.

Then in Romans 12:2, the Bible states: ‘ Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.’

We constantly need to renew our mind by conforming to the patterns of God.

Once we give our bodies to God as holy and pleasing sacrifice and once we renew our mind to the patterns of God, then we will be to test and approve God’s perfect will.
