HOW TO SHAPE YOUR LIFE THROUGH SCRIPTURE CONFESSION

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

(Prov. 18:21)

The tongue has the power of life and death. In other words, what we speak can generate life or/and death.

Since the tongue can generate life and death, we should also carefully analyze and consider what comes from our tongues.

The best way to speak life is by often confessing the Scripture for all the situations of life. We can speak the Scriptures for our personal lives, for our families, for our communities, for our Nations.

The Bible says the following:

“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”

(Hebrews 11:3)

The passage of Hebrews 11:3 states that the worlds are framed by the Word of God. In other words, the worlds exist within the boundaries of the Word of God. When an image or a photo is framed, it also means that the image or photo is confined within the limit of a frame.

God created different worlds made of planets, stars, the sun, constellations, heavens, spirits, humans and many other things. All those things were confined within the limit of the Word. This is why the planets remain suspended within a specific zone. This is why the Earth and the Sun remain confined within a specific zone. When God created them, He confined them with His Word and they remained suspended within a specific zone of the universe. The Sky cannot fall on the ground because God confined it within the frame of His Word.

Having understood by faith how God operates, we ought to follow His example. We must frame the direction of our lives, families, and nations within the Word of God found in the Scriptures.

This means that we need to speak the Scriptures upon our lives.

Here are a few examples:

When I say: ‘The Lord is My Shepherd, I shall not want (Psalms 23:1). Therefore, I shall not lack to have my bills paid and to have profitable work.

When I confess Psalms 23:1 in that manner as the example above, I frame myself within the frame of Scriptural provision for my life.

When I say: ‘All my children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace’ (ref. 54:13). Therefore, my children are taught in the principles of God and they live in peace.

When I confess 54:13 in that manner, I am framing the destiny of my children by stating that their main Teacher is God and not society. Such teachings result in their peace. As parents, we ought to frame the lives of our children within the confining of the Scriptures and we do not need their permissions to do so.

When I say: ‘In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you’ (Isaiah 54:14)

When I confess Isaiah 54:14, I am placing myself within a frame where I will live righteously, where fear, tyranny and terror from my enemies and bad circumstances are removed.

There are many Scriptures we can use to shape the direction of our lives.

Psalms 23:1

The passage of Psalm 23:1 is a passage I have used for years in order to create a Scriptural shape in my life.

The passage says the following: ‘ ‘The Lord is My Shepherd, I shall not want’.

The passage of Psalm 23:1 can be used for many circumstances and even for other people.

First, we have to acknowledge God as Our Shepherd and that we are submitted to Him. Then, we have to understand that there is no limitation to the verse as long as what we are looking for falls within the boundaries of righteousness.

Let me give you a few examples on how to practically confess Psalm 23:1:

The Lord is my Shepherd, therefore I shall not lack to have a powerful impact in the lives of others.

The Lord is my Shepherd, therefore I shall not lack to have a spouse submitted to the Lord.

The Lord is my Shepherd, therefore I shall not lack to have children who are living wisely and according to the Scripture.

The Lord is my Shepherd, therefore I shall not lack an increased desire to study His Word.

The Lord is My Shepherd, therefore I shall not lack to have that specific thing I need.

Psalm 23:1 can be adapted and confessed for many situations and I have seen the effect of the verse in my life.

In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, the Bible says:

‘All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.’

Scripture can help us in obtaining the equipment we need for every good work. Therefore, let us not neglect the confession of the Scripture.

Let us speak the Scriptures so that we can generate life through our tongues.
